As a student of the late Sifu Brendan Lai in the ’70s, I have fond memories of this series of movements. After studying individual techniques in my first year of training, The 14 Roads introduced sequences to me linking many of these singular methods into effective combinations.
Sifu Lai had a large full-size poster displaying the entire 14 Roads at his studio on California St. in San Francisco. The Roads present real ripostes pulled from a wide spectrum of Northern 7-Star Mantis.

Excellent! Sifu Lai was one of the first Mantis teachers I encountered doing research on the Style as a kid. The videos I’ve seen of his movement are impressive.
