On Dreams

A blind spot which often arises from dualistic thinking is the False Dichotomy. For example: the assumption that the waking state and dream are essentially “truth” and “fiction”.

Regular attention to Dream content can teach an individual the language of the unconscious, while the symbol speech of dream bleeds into mundane experience.

While perhaps the majority of individuals are content to Sleepwalk through life, spiritual empowerment and artistic endeavors may be enhanced beyond measure by the pursuit of this dance with the deep.

A separate yet similar misunderstanding lies in the assumption that imaginal content is essentially a sort of lie someone has spun (for others or themselves).

There is a distinction between that which is fabricated and that which Arises.

I can construct an image in a mechanical fashion: “Here is the House, here is the Cat…” and so on. But the richest content pours out without striving. I’m not certain if this can be effectively taught, but relinquishing intention creates a field where things can manifest with the sort of glow that lent art through the ages to transcendental experience.
