Tanglang Ba Da Ba Bu Da Zong Lun – Tanglang’s Eight Strike Eight No Strike Overall Theory

八打/Ba Da – Eight Strikes:

八打破骨幹斤(臁骨手臂中節);

1. Strike the brows above both eyes (the eyebrows’ arch & both eye sockets)

2. Strike the lip on Renzhong (the Renzhong cavity’s point)

3. Strike through the cheek ear gate (the cheek & ear gate point)

4. Strike the back’s rear bone seam (the shoulder blades’ inner & outer edges)

5. Strike the lung organ’s chest cavity (both rib bones beginning area)

6. Strike with Scoop the Yin toward the raised bone (the area of the pubic bone’s upper part)

7. Strike the Crane’s Knee & Tiger’s Head (the patella on the lower leg & above the joint)

8. Strike & break the bones of the frame sharply (the bones within the arm & leg joints)

Ba Bu Da – Eight No Strikes:

1. Don’t strike Taiyang on the head (Taiyang cavity’s area)

2. Don’t strike at the main lock gate (the pit of the stomach’s protruding area)

3. Don’t strike the heart’s inner rampart (the stiff part where the ribs join)

4. Don’t strike the two rib origins (the area of both armpits)

5. Don’t strike the Seabottom with Scoop the Yin (the body’s lower Yin point)

6. Don’t strike both kidneys’ facing centers (the holes on both sides of the lower back)

7. Don’t strike the Weilu & Wind Mansion (the sacrum & tailbone areas)

8. Don’t strike the two ears with fanning winds (the ear hollows & surrounding points)

The Eight Strikes are for causing an opponent to feel pain & lose consciousness, they are convenient & quick to throw out, therefore they are all appropriate targets. The Eight No Strikes are without exception linked to life wounding points, if a person isn’t guilty to death then there’s no need to take his life, therefore it is appropriate that they should all be avoided.
