轉掌十二分練法/Zhuan Zhang Shi’er Fen Lian Fa – Turning Palm Twelve Points on the Practice Method

•轉掌/Zhuan Zhang – Turning Palm is the core of Baguazhang. It should be the bulk of your daily practice, as it develops robust health & a coordinated body. Here’s Twelve key points on the method, four for each of the Three Basins.•

•滾/Gun – Roll
•鑽/Zuan – Drill
•掙/Zheng – Struggle
•裹/Guo – Wrap
•拧/Ning – Twist
•旋/Xuān – Whirl
•走/Zou – Walk
•转/Zhuan – Turn
•起/Qi – Rise
•落/Luo – Fall
•掰/Bai – Swing
•扣/Kou – Hook

When practicing, emphasis is placed on the following:

The arms should “roll, drill, struggle, & wrap.”

The waist should “twist, whirl, walk, & turn.”

The feet should “rise, fall, swing, & hook.”

The waist being the director is stressed, as the hands follow the turning of the waist, & the feet follow the waist’s movement; “the waist strikes and the waist removes.”
